Oh yes, she’s inked! It all started with a charity project, a paw print, and it just escalated from there!
My first tattoo design was a paw-print. A combination of my 3 dogs paws. Two years later it transformed into a half sleeve. Representing my foxy side, my dogs, my favourite quote and flowers.
Have I mentioned I’m a dog person? I might have under-estimated that… I am the friendly neighbourhood crazy dog lady!
Google: The Grumpy Old Man
His name is Google, because his breed is UNgooglable. He’s 10 years old and actually still a puppy at heart, he was my very first rescue when he was only 5 weeks old. He changed my life for the better, so the question remains… who actually rescued who? He has been Alex’s best friend since the very beginning. He enjoys long naps in the sun, howling, and growling at the Border Collie.
Gabby: The GREAT Dane
She’s my tiny little princess puppy and she just turned 9. This curious, classy dame has more maternal instincts than a entire maternity ward 9 months after Valentines day. She’s caring, cute and all sorts of sassy. She was my 2nd rescue dog when she was 8 weeks old, and it was clear that I would be rescuing dogs ever since. Adopt don’t shop is my motto! She enjoys snacks, more snacks and extra snacks. She also get’s a major kick out of bossing around the Border Collie.
Codi: The Border Collie
My 3rd and sweetest rescue. Codi the Border Collie truly turned my world upside down. When I rescued her at the tender age of 4 weeks, this little pupper didn’t even know how to be a dog, let alone the pedigree she is, so it was up to me to teach her how to be a Border Collie. I am happy to report, I failed miserably, she’s convinced she’s human now. Oh well! She enjoys car rides, school trips, naps, cuddles, nose boops and herding cats.
Whiskey: The Foxy Pom
This is the one who stole the rest of my heart. He is my favourite child and the 4x human kids know this. This little critter came into my world when he was almost thrown away next to the side of the road when he was 6 weeks old. At first he looked like a Pekinese, but then he morphed into the beautiful little Pom-Fox he is today. He enjoys playing with his toys, eating treats, hiding said treats in the garden, playing with his human siblings, cuddling his mommy, sleeping on his mommy’s head and smiling all day.
Like I said – saying I am a dog person is an understatement. I am proud to be the barking mad lady with the PAWsitively coolest crew of four legged friends in town.
My journey has taken a couple of interesting turns and the occasional plot twists have always kept me on my toes. It all started when I discovered my love for brands, marketing and all things Social Media.
After school I decided to study Psychology, soon after completion I realised that being a psychologist wasn’t meant for me and certainly not fit for my personality. That just goes to show you really shouldn’t trust a 17 year old to make big decisions like that.
I studied part time and worked full time in our local Craft shop as I always loved arts & crafts and anything creative, I guess you can say I was born for multi-media. After Psychology I opted for my MBA since I decided I wanted to own my own craft-shop & coffee shop one day.
While studying for my MBA, I worked at a lodge called Intundla. There, my marketing career started. I soon became the Marketing Manager and soon after the Marketing Manager for Ndlovu Lodge too. Being able to use my psychology skills, my MBA skills and my creative side all at once turned me into a lean, mean marketing machine. If you think about it – Marketing is simply psychology in reverse, people don’t tell you want they want or want to see – you have to tell them, and convince them! I call this the Dischem tactic. One doesn’t simply go to Dischem knowing what they want, Dischem tells you what you want.
It was during these years that I started touching on Social Media and the power thereof.
I got head-hunted by Elite Online Solutions and was the Head Social Media Manager and Content Coordinator. I spent a couple of years there expanding my skills and learning more and more about our industry and how social media has changed consumers behaviour.
It was during my time at Elite that one of my personal posts went viral, that’s when iLEAD et al head hunted me. My digital career sky-rocketed. I had the opportunity to learn even more about Digital Marketing.
I became the Head Of Department for the Social Media team and for 4 years I worked closely with the HOD of Sales & Marketing & HOD of the Google team, this is where my love for Digital Marketing strategies began. I realised that there was a massive gap between the agency’s departments when it came to client’s campaign. I started working on ways to ensure that our email marketing, design, website, google, seo, blogs, ppc campaigns all worked together to create a super-sonic campaign to knock our results out of the park.
From there our KPI’s, Goals and results sky-rocketed, and that’s when I knew this was my destiny.
Through all the years I managed to build design, web development, Social Media, Paid Media, Campaign, SEO and PPC skills and that’s how we got here.
